Parkside were proud to take part in this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week, where our Clerkenwell studio became a hub of creative energy and sustainable design.
At the heart of the activity was the launch of the Parkside x Coco Lom terrazzo tile collection. Hackney-based artist Coco Lom was in the studio all week to unveil the range of a vibrant, 100% British-made collection of terrazzo tiles featuring her signature abstract patterns, manufactured in Manchester. Visitors were able to meet the artist, watch her live mural painting, and pick up exclusive Parkside x Coco Lom merch.
Alongside the launch, we ran terrazzo making workshops in collaboration with Ethical Stone, the makers behind the collection. Participants got hands-on with the British-sourced materials used in the tiles and created their very own terrazzo coaster to take home. Our Clerkenwell studio also played host to the launch of two new sustainable tiling products. Alusid’s Dr Alasdair Bremner shared how their production techniques have led to the lowest carbon emissions of any ceramic tile to date. Criaterra followed with a deep dive into the improvements made to Criaterra v2, maintaining its 100% natural, biodegradable makeup while cutting energy use by 90% compared to standard ceramic tiles.
Wrapping up the week in style, Lockley’s Cocktail Lounge returned for its famous Thursday takeover. Visitors celebrated with the creatives behind this year’s launches and projects – a fitting end to what was one of our most exciting and sustainable Clerkenwell Design Weeks yet.
