Our Technical Services
From PTV and LRV testing to QC checks, our in-house technical experts are here to provide all the information to help take the pressure out of specification compliance.

/ Pendulum Testing
Pendulum Testing
The technical characteristics and performance of a tile are just as important as its aesthetic, particularly in commercial environments with high footfall.
At Parkside we use Pendulum Test Values (PTV) to determine the slip resistance of our tiles. All of our floor tiles are tested for slip resistance by our suppliers and then tested again, in house, by a member of our technical team, giving you peace of mind when selecting your slip resistant tile.
A higher Pendulum Test Value (PTV) indicates greater slip resistance. Tiles that achieve a PTV of 36 or above are considered to offer excellent slip resistance, making them a safe and reliable choice

/ LRV Testing
LRV Testing
Light Reflectance Value (LRV) testing is an essential component in ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and enhancing design outcomes, measuring the percentage of visible and usable light reflected from a surface when illuminated by a light source.
It plays a critical role in interior and exterior design, particularly in creating environments that are inclusive and visually accessible. LRV testing can help ensure that visually impaired people can navigate spaces confidently and safely.
- Our LRV Testing Services Include:
- Accurate measurement of surface reflectance using calibrated equipment.
- Guidance on colour contrast for walls and floors.
- Support for architects, designers, and specifiers in achieving optimal visual contrast.

/ Quality Assured
Quality Testing
We have an experienced technical auditing team who carry out full, in-depth inspections on all new incoming stocked tiles to ensure they are of the highest quality and meet all relevant technical requirements.
All tiles undergo a product quality inspection, according to BS 10545-2:2018 to ensure they meet their associated industry standard (e.g. ISO, EN & BS standards). We visually inspect tiles for, surface defects like cracks, chips, inconsistencies in glazing and surface contamination.
As well as this, dimensional characteristics of all tiles are verified in accordance with BS 10545-2:2018 to ensure they meet the requirements set out in standards such as BS EN 14411:2016, and include length, width, thickness, curvature, straightness of sides and surface flatness.
