In Out by MUT

In Out is a designer ceramic wall tile collection created by MUT Design, a Valencia-based studio known for work that bridges product design and architectural decoration.

The collection takes its name from its two-component system: an OUT tile at 224x224mm that forms the background field, and a smaller IN tile at 123x123mm that sits within a recessed or raised section of the OUT tile to create a layered, geometric composition.

The system is designed to be mixed and matched across colourways. The three OUT tiles come in Taupe, Blue and Black, while the three IN tiles are available in Green, Sky and Clay. 

As the two components are ordered independently, designers can combine any IN colour with any OUT colour, allowing a significant number of distinct compositions from a relatively small palette. The contrast between the inner and outer tile is where the visual interest lies, and the gloss finish amplifies that by reflecting light differently across the two surfaces.

The modernist geometry behind the collection draws on the visual logic of mid-century architectural pattern making, where simple forms are repeated and rotated to generate complex surface rhythms. 

Used across a full wall the effect is bold and graphic. However, used as a feature panel or splashback within a more restrained scheme, it provides a focal point without requiring the whole room to commit to the palette.

In Out is a wall-only tile for interior use, supplied in a gloss finish with 36% recycled content.
