Royal Victoria Place Shopping Centre

Well known for its Georgian and Victorian architecture, visitors to Royal Tunbridge Wells, or Tunbridge Wells as its more commonly known, can also enjoy a modern day shopping experience at the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre.

In the Autumn of 2019, McLaren began the renovation of Royal Victoria Place, following an £11m investment by the owners British Land. We proposed our Adapt stone effect porcelain tile collection, taking time to carefully showcase and consider the different colour options in order to select the best tiles for the project.

Around 5400msq of Adapt tiles were supplied including 3 different size options, 60x60cm, 30x60cm and 20x80cm. They were produced with a special anti-slip coating to achieve PTV 36+ in the wet, ensuring the technical characteristics of the tiles were suitable for the high traffic environment.

The renovation work, which was carried out at night to minimise disruption to shoppers and retailers, was completed in Summer 2020 and we are proud to have worked with Haskoll and W.B. Simpson and Sons to help deliver a sleek, modern finish that is technically suited to its high traffic environment.

The overall outcome of the project highlights how the Adapt porcelain tiles have helped create a space that feels welcoming, light and spacious, enhancing the experience of everyone who works and shops at the Royal Victoria Place Shopping Centre.
