LeicestershireLive Awards 2020

Following on from our involvement in Design Season 2 (DS2) in Leicester, we were proud to sponsor the DS2 Award for Innovation in Design at the recent LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards. This category is all about celebrating those pioneers in the design community, whether it be innovating in what is being designed, innovative collaborations that have brought out interesting results, or looking at the design process itself and how to innovate in the way we design.

There was fierce competition in the category with 3 shortlisted entries – Blueprint InteriorsGillian Proctor and Haley Sharpe Design – who all had brilliant nominations. We would’ve loved to give everyone an award however, there could only be one winner… and we were honoured to present Haley Sharpe Design with the winner’s trophy at the ceremony. Their work is diverse and the stand-out project they’re working on is the biggest museum on the planet in Egypt!

As part of the awards, we organised a raffle featuring three art masterpieces created by Jo Keogh Ceramics as part of Design Season 2. These 3 pieces were all unique and featured a completely different look and purpose. We raised over £100 for The Mighty Creatives who fuel creativity in young people across the Midlands. Limited access to creative opportunities restricts a young person’s development and reinforces social and economic disadvantages. The Mighty Creatives work with education providers and cultural organisations to support and develop ways of tackling the inequality of access to creative opportunities.
